Various organizations condemn lathi-charge on AIIMS CC members

JAMMU, Aug 1: Various political, social, trade, transport and youth organizations condemned the brutal police lathi-charge on the members of the AIIMS Coordination Committee members and its chairman during peaceful protest march in Jammu today.
National Conference today condemned use of excessive force on the peaceful protestors, seeking AIIMS for Jammu and described the police action as unfortunate and unwarranted.
“Using the police force to muzzle sane voice of people speaks of frustration enveloping the PDP-BJP Government in the wake of mishandling the situation”, Provincial president Devender Singh Rana said in a statement here today.
Mr Rana said the BJP has turned highly intolerant to dissent and therefore, it is shamelessly indulging in trampling basic democratic rights of the people. “In the instant case, they have made the civil society target of their arrogance, who dared to call their bluff on AIIMS”, he said.
Mr Rana cautioned the Government against its highhandedness and said that anti-democratic measures would be effectively resisted. “Instead of having introspection over failing in realizing the commitments, the BJP has chosen to crack on the agitators, who are conscience keepers of the society”, he maintained.
NC leaders Dharamveer Singh Jamwal, Ajaz Jan- YNC president and Provincial president of Women Wing of National Conference Satwant Kaur Dogra also condemned the brutal attack by police on the peaceful procession demanding establishment of AIIMS in Jammu.
Senior Congress leaders R S Chib, Janak Raj Gupta ( Ex-MP),  Th Hari Singh, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Arvinder Singh Micky, Ashok Sharma, Amolak Singh, Krishan Chander and B M Sharma also condemned the police lathi-charge on the AIIMS Coordionation Committee members.
In a joint statement  issued here these Congress leaders accorded full support to the AIIMS Coordination Committee and criticized the BJP leadership for using force to gag the voice of the people. They stated BJP’s such suppressive tactics leaders would prove counter productive for the BJP leadership. They said that BJP stood exposed before the people of Jammu and the people would outrightly reject this party as they have betrayed the people of Jammu and played the politics of deceit.
Former Minister and Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, M K Bhardwaj, Yogesh Sawhney, Ashok Dubey  and Ashwani Puri  strongly condemned the Government for its failure in all fields.  They said that the BJP is completely exposed as it has betrayed the people of Jammu region who supported the party during the assembly elections with overwhelming voting. But the party has failed to fulfill the its promises and commitment made with the public which is feeling cheated and deceived.  They further said that the party has surrendered the interests of Jammu the hands of the PDP for the lust of power.
Chief  patron of National Panthers Party  Prof Bhim Singh while condemning the use of force on peaceful protesters, warned the BJP-PDP Government that the history shall not forgive them both for playing treachery with the people of Jammu Pradesh. He proposed that twin states,  a Kashmir Valley and Jammu Pradesh is the only solution to ensure justice to both the historical regions of the state. He said if he were the ruler he would have declared one AIIMS for Jammu and another for Kashmir Valley with civil secretariats around the year at both places. He said that when Assam could be divided in seven states, Andhra, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar and others into different states on the basis of history, geography, linguistic and cultural identities why not J&K should be treated alike on the basis of geography, language and of course culture and history.
Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC-Delhi unit) also condemned police lathi-charge on  the supporters  and activists AIIMS Coordination Committee today in Jammu and criticised  unprovoked attack on the peaceful demonstrators including women and elderly persons by pro—BJP activists  at Kachi Chwani on Friday,  in a desperate bid to disrupt the peaceful Jammu bandh.
In a statement KPC leader Kundan Kashmiri lambasted pro- BJP activists  for pelting the stones on women and elderly persons and disturbing the procession of AIIMS CC. He  said that BJP is  doing this all out of  frustration and desperation as they have failed to fulfill their promises and got exposed before the people of Jammu and others.
While supporting  the entire agitation and 72 hours  Jammu bandh, Mr Kundan  appealed all the people of Jammu in general and Kashmiri Pandits  in particular to join this battle for justices launched by AIIMS CC.
Jammu unit of KPC under the leadership of  Tej Pandita vice president and Dr TK Bhat, Chairman Jammu KPC   also  endorsed the decision of KPC chief to support the agitation and bandh call of AIIMS CC  Jammu.
CPI (M) Jammu Regional Committee and Congress leader from Vijaypur also condemned police lathicharge on AIIMS CC members in Jammu.
Senior PCC leader Maheshwar Singh Manhas also condemned lathi charge on AIIMS CC members.
