JAMMU, Apr 8: As a strong resentment is brewing among people in this region against illegal settlement of Rohingyas here, several Jammu based organizations have extended active support for proposed Jammu bandh on this issue.
The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena took out a protest rally in Jammu city demanding immediate deportation of Rohingyas from here as these illegal immigrants have circled the city.
The protest demonstration was led by the Dogra Front president Ashok Gupta, who extended full support to a bandh on April 11 for the demand against Rohingyas. Mr Gupta added that the entire Jammu will observe complete bandh on April 11 and no particular party or people will force people for the closure of their business enterprises as this is the common cause for Jammu people and their identity.
Smelling a deep rooted conspiracy behind the settlement these immigrants in Jammu region, Gupta said, “It had been reported that these people had clandestinely managed Permanent Resident Certificates, identity cards, ration cards and water and electricity connections for their daily needs with the help of some politicians and officials in the administration,” he alleged.
He added that while the Rohingyas from Myanmar and Bangladesh could manage to settle in Jammu, Tibetan refugees are enjoying voting rights in Kashmir whereas the West Pakistan refugees, who crossed over to Jammu to survive the massacre of partition, are still struggling for their rights since 1947.
Jammu West Assembly Movement, in its working committee meeting here today, under the chairmanship of Sunil Dimple, also announced its support to the purported Jammu band on April 11.
Extending full support to the Bar Association Jammu, Sunil Dimple said that and all the organization stand united for the cause of Jammu region. He appealed all the Bar Association members and its president BS Slathia to go ahead with the Jammu Bandh call on 11 April.
Dimple said enough time has been given to BJP to correct the things but there was no positive response with the result that Jammu people are left with no option other than to adopt agitational path against demography change and illegal settlement of Rohingyas besides for CBI probe into Rassana case.
Duggar Pradesh Party has extended its full support to the continuous protest launched by the Bar Association Jammu and said the people of Jammu are being forced to go for another agitation because of the blunders being committed by those at the helm of affairs.
Uday Chand, president of DPP, said the party will fully support and participate in the proposed Bandh call, if given by the Bar for 11th April, in its general meeting.
He said it was the utter failure of the Government of India, which mishandled the issue of Rohingyas by not organizing the refugee camps well in time on the border of Myanmar (Burma) as per the guidelines of United Nation resolution and allowed them to scatter in the whole of the country especially in Jammu region. “Coalition Government of BJP and PDP in the State, instead of forcing Central Government to remove these illegal immigrants, dividing the people of on communal lines whereas this issue relates with the security of the State as well as country as we are facing terrorism for the last 28 years,” he said and also justified the demand of CBI probe into Rassana incident.
