JAMMU, May 24: Various political parties and general public has strongly reacted against the Pak shelling on civilians and also staged protest against Modi Govt at various places across the region.
The Congress activists under the leadership of PCC general secretary Dr Manohar Lal Sharma and DCC president Kathua and former MLC Subash Gupta after attending funeral of Ram Paul held a protest demonstration at Hiranagar and burnt effigy of Pakistan.
Alleging Modi led Government responsible for the killings of innocent people, Dr Manohar Lal said that since May 15 the Pakistan is doing indiscriminate firing across the borders of Hiranagar, Samba, and RS Pura sector till now 12 people, including at least 10 civilians and two jawans have been killed and over 60 people injured. He said that the villages located with in 5 km from the IB, resembles ‘ghost habitations’ with only a few people and some cops left there.
Expressing anguish over the act of Pakistan in targeting the civilians including children and women, Subash Gupta said that during Wednesday’s shelling Ram Paul died whereas Sudesh Kumari, Sudershan Kumar, Tarsem Lal, Doulat Ram all residents of Londi, and Aman Singh from Bobiya were injured. He condemned the act of Pak troops.
Former Minister and PCC general secretary Manjit Singh accused Union Government of leaving the border residents to the mercy of Almighty.
In a press statement, senior Congress leader who visited border villages in Ramgarh sector and interacted with the Pak shelling affected people, said that Modi Government has left the border residents to the mercy of Almighty because there is no governance on the ground.
Congress leader and AICC member Mohinder Bhardwaj has demanded that the BJP-PDP Govt should immediately start relief measures to provide succor to people who are victims of unprovoked firing by Pakistan. He said the victims are suffering due to utter neglect and apathy of the Government in fulfilling its own promises on creating a backup system for these people who repeatedly become target of hostilities from across the border.
After touring affected Arnia town and surrounding villages on the border, Bhardwaj expressed anguish that the civilian and peace loving population of the border areas is unnecessarily being put to hardship.
Ch Manmohan Singh, vice chairman JKMSCL and president All India Jat Mahasabha, J&K along with various members of SGPC visited Govt Medical College Jammu to meet the victims of border firing. He passed the instructions to the team of doctors there to provide best possible treatment and all medicines from hospital stock to the victims. He assured the patients that they will be given best care and treatment.
He lambasted Pakistan for the gruesome acts and said Pakistan should be taught a good lesson by Indian Govt once for all. He said that Pakistan has regards for even holy days of Ramzan and couldn’t resist itself from cease fire violation and killing innocent people and cattle by unprovoked fire.
Meanwhile, State unit president of NCP and former minister Th Randhir Singh has strongly condemned the Pakistan for its cowardice act of firing on innocent civilians and demanded that bloodshed on the borders be stopped. He a big crisis like situation has been prevailing along the borders of Kathua, Samba and Jammu and Government must take appropriate steps to protect its citizens and their properties. He said if a Government fails to protect its citizens, it has no right to stay in power.
