Various political, social, student organisations condole death of Delhi gang-rape victim

JAMMU, Dec 30: Various political, social and student organizations besides commoners have expressed their grief over the death of Delhi gang rape victim, who breathed her last on Saturday early morning.
Residents of Channi Himmat and Trikuta Nagar organized a condolence meeting at Channi Himmat Park in Sector-7 and paid tributes to the gang-rape victim by lighting candles. They observed a two-minute silence and prayed the Almighty for peace to the departed soul.Expressing their anguish, Dr Priya Charak, Arunima Thapa and Nirmal Kamal alleged failure of the system, which does not ensure safety of women in the country.
Activists of Women World Awakening Organisation (WWAO) also organized a candle light march to express their anguish and grief over the rape incident and death of the victim. President of WWAO, Veena Handa led the march, which took off from the Press Club Jammu and culminated near the Vivekananda Chowk. The participants were raising slogans and carrying placards conveying their anguish over the incident. Prominent among those who took part in the march, included, Sneh Bali, Indira Rathore, Prabha Jain, Shashi Sharma, Raj Bharti, Nirmal Padha and Kanchan Sharma.
Swarangan Meditation organized a ‘Shanti Sabha’ and meditation music therapy for praying Almighty God to give peace to the departed soul of rape victim. Raj Kumar Dogra, chairperson and renowned meditation guru, gave a live presentation of this natural way of meditation therapy for inducing a sense of social responsibility and respect for others.
Shalini Chouhan, Payal Dogra, Sanjay Kumar, Puneet Sharma, Meenakshi, Rajan Magotra, Reena Bagotra, Vipin Luthra, Neha Talwar, Inderjit Kour, Ruby Khokhar, Manit Singh and others took part in the Shanti Sabha.
For paying tributes to the deceased, a condolence meeting was held at Sher –I- Kashmir Bhawan , Jammu under the chairmanship of Rattan Lal Gupta provincial president. Senior NC leaders, including Mushtaq Bukhari (Vice Chairman Pahari Advisory Board), Th. Rashpal Singh (Vice Chairman Kissan Advisory Board) and Bimla Luthra(MLA) took part in the meeting and paid tributes to the victim girl.
The participants unanimously resolved that such incidents are black spot on the humanity and the civil society should come forward against such heinous crime. They urged the Government to punish the culprits with exemplary punishment and take all measures to ensure that such crimes are not repeated in future .The meet also expressed sympathies and condolences with the bereaved family . Two minutes silence was observed for peace of the departed soul.

Govind Ram Sharma , Pardeep Bali , Nar Singh , Rajesh Bakashi , Mohinder Gupta , Ram Saroop , S.S Peter , Dilshada Malik , Daljeet Sharma , Veena Oberio , Pinky Bhat , Ashok Dogra , Subash Bhagat , Ashok Singh , Mohd. Shabir , Vicky Singh, Sham Mehra , Sucha Singh , Ashanand, Amit Bali, Satya Jamwal and a number of party workers.
Expressing their anguish over the death of gang-rape victim, activists of National Panthers Students Union held a protest demonstration at Bikram Chowk Jammu, under the leadership of Lucky Singh (president MAM College).
The protesters assembled at Bikram Chowk and raised slogans against Delhi police, UPA Government and for capital punishment to the rape accused.
Addressing the gathering, Partap Singh Jamwal, State president NPSU, said that the rape culprits should be hanged in public so that in future nobody dares to indulge in such type of crime or even think of molesting an innocent girl.
Others who addressed the protesters, included, Sandeep Thakur, Lovely, Maninder, Rohit, Abinash, Angat Kumar Bhagat, Devinder Singh Bhau, Sanjay Sharma, Shubam, Sunny Keser, Nittin, Deepak Raj Pandey, Shubam Sharma, Ashwani Baloria and Rahil.
At Akhnoor, NPSU held a condolence meeting at the tehsil office and paid tributes to the gang-rape victim.
The meet was chaired by NPSU State secretary Atul Sudan as well as president GDC Akhnoor Avinash Sharma and attended by the representatives of Government HSS Akhnoor, GHSS Sohal, GHSS Jourian, GHSS Khour, GHSS Chowki Choura, Calliope College of Education, GDC Akhnoor and GDC Khour.
After paying tributes to the rape victim, the participants stressed for stringent punishment to the accused and a strong law for security of the women. The meet also resolved to observe one-day school colleges boycott on January 2, 2013 for fast tracking the rape case and punishment to the accused.
For paying tributes to the gang rape victim, Dogra Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha, Jammu held a meeting today under the chairmanship of vice-president V M Magotra and expressed serious concern over deteriorating moral values in the society resulting into such crimes.
The meet stressed that stringent laws need to be enacted and efficiently implemented to deal with such type of crime. Besides, religious education should also be made compulsory so that fear of God can also act as a deterrent in the sinner mind. The meet ended with the recital of Gayatri Mantra and prayer to God for grant of eternal peace to the departed brave heart.

Muslim Development Forum has condemned the brutal act of gang rape in Delhi and expressed grief over death of the victim. General body of the Forum convened a condolence meeting under the chairmanship of Syed Shabir Ahmed Shah and demanded establishment of fast track courts to deal with the offences of rape, molestation, eve teasing etc for ensuring strict punishment to the accused.
Expressing condolence over the death of Delhi gang-rape victim, the members of Jammu Kashmir State Samaj Sudhar Committee held protest rallies in Samba, Kathua, Lakhanpur. These rallies were addressed by State president JKSSSC Mohd Yousuf Wani, Sanjeev Malhotra, Mohan Lal, Raj Sharma and others who urged the Government to frame strict laws for action against the accused involved in such heinous crimes.
Reports from Udhampur said that members of Shri Ram Sena organized a condolence meeting on death of the gang rape victim and demanded stern punishment against the accused. The meet also observed a two-minute silence and prayed the Almighty to bestow peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family.

Naïve Heeds Trust also expressed shock and grief over the death Delhi gang rape victim. A condolence meeting in this regard was held wherein two-minute silence was observed for peace to the departed soul. Those who attended the meeting, included Pawan Sharma, Jatin Musafir, Randish Sharma, Uttam Singh, Ram Kumar and Sanjeev Sharma.
Congress leader Rajesh Gupta has also condemned the Delhi gang-rape incident and expressed grief over death of the victim. In a statement, Mr Gupta appealed the Government to take stringent action against such the accused involved in such cases of crime against women. He also appealed the Director General of J&K Police to make arrangements for night patrolling by cops, especially from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Hindustan Shiv Sena expressed extreme grief over the death of 23year old paramedical student who was gang raped in Delhi. In a statement K.Shivani Rao Hindustan Shiv Sena Mahila Wing President demanded that fast track courts should be established to deal with such heinous crimes so that the justice should be delivered at the earliest.
