JAMMU, Nov 13: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Jammu organized a special workshop on practical journalism skills, featuring Dr Varun Suthra, Director of International Relations at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS).
Suthra captivated the audience with his profound insights into the evolving landscape of media and the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in journalism.
Interacting with students, Dr Varun Suthra emphasized the importance of observation in uncovering unique stories, even in the simplest surroundings. He highlighted how the rise of AI has made media ‘multidimensional,’ creating novel opportunities in journalism and mass media. Encouraging students to embrace these advancements, Suthra urged them to explore diverse fields connected to media and broaden their understanding.
The Regional Director of IIMC, Dr Dilip Kumar, advised students to set aside egos and focus on developing expertise, critical thinking, and strong practical skills. He reminded students that success lies in consistent learning and prioritizing their goals.
The event also witnessed the presence of Dr Abhishek Magotra, Associate Professor at GAMC Jammu, along with IIMC faculty members, including Dr Vinit Utpal, Dr Ravia Gupta, and Assistant Professors Vishav, Gulshan Kumar, Rajeev Kumar, and Madhusudan.
