Vasan Bala all praise for Bhagyashree’s son

MUMBAI: Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s long-time assistant Vasan Bala is all praise for actor Bhagyashree’s son, Abhimanyu Dassani, who would be launched in his directorial “Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota”.
Vasan assisted Kashyap in films like “Dev D” and “Gulaal” and also wrote his movies “Bombay Velvet” and “Raman Raghav 2.0”.
“I am not launching anyone, for me (he) is an actor. I love him as an actor. He is a great actor. He is a newcomer,I just gave him an opportunity,” Vasan said on the sidelines of an event here.
Bhagyashree made her debut opposite Salman Khan with “Maine Pyar Kiya”, helmed by Sooraj Barjatya. She shot to fame after the movies release in 1989 but quit films to focus on her family.
Asked Vasan about the pressure of launching a star kid, he said, “I am not a launch kind of a guy. I am a regular director. I have not given any Rs 100 crore hit or anything that I feel the pressure to launch or make anyone’s career. I am yet to make my own career.”
Earlier, Kashyap’s production company Phantom Films was said to produce the film but Vasan said that is not the case now.
“He (Kashyap) is not the producer of the film. Let the poster and teaser come out,” he said.
Vasan made his directorial debut with the crime thriller “Peddlers”, which was screened as a part of 2012 International Critics’ Week, an independent film event which runs parallel to the Cannes Film Festival.
The movie, however, never got a commercial release.
“Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota” will go on floors next month.
“It is an entertaining film and it has lot of action in it. We have not started shooting so it is too early to talk about anything. We will start shoot next month,” Vasan said about the film.
Abhimanyu is undergoing rigorous training for a year as the film has some extensive action sequences. (AGENCIES)
