Vascular Day observed with free camp at Swami Vivekanand Medical Mission

JAMMU, Aug 6: Vascular Day was observed today by organizing a free Vascular Diseases Awareness Camp at Swami Vivekanand Medical Mission Hospital, Ambphalla.
A number of patients attended the camp and were examined by eminent vascular specialists Dr Gurjit Singh and Dr Arvind Kohli.
Various aspects of vascular medicine were provided free to the patients. Vascular Doppler duplex scans, were conducted by Vascular Sonologist Dr Sunil Gupta, Concept about vascular ageing Anticoagulation and pneumatic compression for limb edema were highlights of the event.
Risk factors contributing to origin of these diseases were also explained to the patients so that they stay away from these risk factors like smoking and to keep hypertension, diabetes and hyperlipidemia under control.
Camp coordinator Dr Arvind Kohli stressed upon the need for early diagnosis and detection of these vascular diseases to prevent loss of limbs and life. He said preventive and predictive nature of medicine is very important along with accurate diagnosis to manage the vascular disorders. Advacnce treatment in form of Endovascular devices and lasers and radio frequency ablation devices have revolutionized the management of Vascular diseases, he added.
The camp was inaugurated by president of SVMM, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta in presence of management and staff members of the institution.
