VC inaugurates exhibition of ‘Best out of Waste’ products

JAMMU, Sept 12: The Department of Zoology of Government College for Women, Parade Ground Jammu, organised an Exhibition on Painting and Posters on the theme ‘Forest and Wildlife’ and Exhibition cum Sale of the articles crafted by the students out of the waste/discarded household items under the theme ‘Best out of Waste’ here today.
Vice Chancellor Jammu University, Professor Mohan Pal Singh Ishar, inaugurated the programme.
The department also organized Paryavaran Mitra Hand Printing Pledge Campaign for Biodiversity Protection, Conservation and Sustainable use of Resources.
Prof. Ishar appreciated the efforts of the students and said that they can play a pivotal role in disseminating the message of environmental conservation and importance of recycling resource of various materials.
Principal of the College, Prof (Dr) Hemla Aggarwal applauded the efforts of the students and said that the organization of such programmes was important for their overall personality development. She highlighted the importance of participation in such activities in order to move ahead in the present competitive world.
Prof. Ishar also released a book authored by Dr. Pragya Khanna entitled Textbook of Applied Zoology, Parasitology and Biotechnology published by M/s N.R. Books International on the occasion. The book is intended to suffice the academic requirement of both UG and PG students aspiring to undertake these subjects. In the first program Neha, Samriti Kawaljeet Kaur won the Ist, IInd and IIIrd prizes respectively while Sabhiya, Diksha, Manvi, Shivani and Anchali were given the consolation prizes. While in the 2nd program the students who won the Ist, IInd and IIIrd prizes respectively were Shivata Kaul, Priyanka Slathia and Shagun Thakur while consolation prizes were given to Preeti Atri, Rohini Mishra and Sakshi Pandita.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks presented by the Organizing Secretary, Dr. Pragya Khanna.
Others present on the occasion were Prof. D.N. Sahi, Prof. Chander Shekhar, Prof. Umesh Kailoo, Prof. Neelam, Profs Chanchal, Shaista, Archana, Deepti, Meenu and Karishma.
