JAMMU, Nov 24: Vice Chairman (VC), Jammu Development Authority, Rajesh Kumar Shavan today reviewed various developmental works going on in JDA colonies located in city outskirts.
In order to ensure the speedy execution of all ongoing developmental works, the VC JDA convened a review meeting. The physical and financial progress of all the works was reviewed on spot. Rajinder Nagar colony, Janipur, New Plot, Muthi and Talab Tillo areas were visited to see the pace of development and enforcement of the Master Plan in these areas.
The VC JDA was accompanied by Collector Land Acquisition JDA, Incharge Superintending Engineer JDA, Executive Engineer and AEE.
In Roop Nagar Colony, residents of Sector No 1 met the VC and demanded lighting and irrigating facility in the park. The VC assured them of the needful and directed the Superintending Engineer to prepare estimates at an earliest. He also reviewed the progress of under construction building of club house and instructed the executing agency to start the work in double shift, so that the club building is made fully functional within a year.
The work of parks at Rajinder Nagar Sector 4 and Durga Nagar Colony were also reviewed and on spot instructions issued to engineering wing to add swings and play way facilities for children within a month as per the pressing demand of local inhabitants.
Meanwhile the Jammu Development Authority took another important decision to make all its markets/complexes as “Smart Markets” wherein the civic facilities will be improved and hoardings and unauthorised constructions shall be removed. The VC took a serious view of some violations made by the shopkeepers by even removing inner walls and fixing shutters without any permission from JDA.
The concerned were asked to seal all such establishments and remove the hoardings at once, if the shopkeepers fail to do so within week’s time. It was directed that JDA will allow a uniform board with specific size and paint for display of name of shop and any franchise and not the big hoardings which obstruct view and give ugly look.
