JAMMU, July 12: Faced with flood of litigations over JDA land and other assets, the Vice Chairman JDA Rajesh Kumar Shavan today took a meeting to review the progress of all court cases.
During meeting, it was appraised by the legal section that approximately 648 cases are pending in High Court, J&K Special Tribunal and lower courts. The VC instructed all the concerned officers/officials to maintain proper record of JDA land so that replies can be filed in the courts.
He further issued instructions to the Legal Section to vigorously follow the court cases so that resources of JDA are saved and the interest of authority is protected by filing timely objections before the courts.
It was pointed out by the empanelled counsels of JDA that they face problems in contesting cases in absence of timely reports/relevant records from the JDA and expected help from the Director Land Management in providing timely records.
Advocate Adarsh Sharma apprised the Vice Chairman that 3-4 important cases have been recently disposed off by the High Court in favour of JDA and the authority can now proceed further for carrying out its developmental plan. The issue of retainership and miscellaneous expenditure made by counsels was also raised and the Vice Chairman assured to look into the demand.
The VC appealed to the counsels to categorize the cases in chorological order and make every effort to place the view point of JDA for early disposal of cases. He further sought help from them in identifying certain cases which can be settled mutually out of court for speeding development.
Those who attended the meeting included Director Land Management, Collector Land Acquisition, Secretary, Superintending Engineer, Legal Assistant, JDA and all advocates empanelled as Standing Counsels of JDA.
