JAMMU, July 5: Keeping in view delayed start of work due to various bottlenecks, Vice-Chairman of Jammu Development Authority Rajesh Kumar Shavan today started double shift work on construction of multi-storey parking at Bus Stand.
The double shift of working was formally inaugurated by the VC in the presence of senior officers including Director Land Management, Collector Land Acquisition, Executive Engineers and the officials of Shapoorji Pallonji, who are executing this most prestigious project of Jammu.
It is pertinent to mention here that the multi-storey parking is being constructed by the JDA at the cost of Rs 213 crore.
The contract has been allotted to M/s Shapoorji and Pallonji.
The work got delayed and the contractor could not mobilize the men and machinery due to various bottlenecks. Around 75 shopkeepers have already been shifted to new ISBT as per the orders of Steering Committee headed by the then Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal. Twenty two rests of the shops have been recently shifted by Vice Chairman JDA Rajesh Kumar Shavan and 8 kiosks also removed to facilitate the construction work.
Shapoorji and Pallonji Construction has been instructed to expedite the work and mobilize fully the men and machinery in order to complete the project on time. The construction company as per commitment launched double shift to enable JDA to accomplish this project before November 2018.
