VC JU inspects newly constructed infrastructure at Reasi Campus

REASI, Feb 12: Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu (JU), Prof Umesh Rai today conducted a comprehensive inspection of the newly constructed infrastructure at the Reasi Campus and discussed key issues for the seamless functioning of the campus.
During the visit, Prof SK Pandey, Director Reasi Campus, provided a detailed overview, emphasizing the infrastructural requirements essential for smooth functioning of academic programs and hostels at the new campus site. The Vice Chancellor (VC) was joined by Vishesh Mahajan, DC Reasi, who assured full support from the District Administration, particularly in providing basic facilities like road connectivity, water, and electric supply to the campus. Prof Rai, in alignment with the Chancellor’s vision of a green campus, instructed officials to explore renewable energy sources at Reasi Campus.
Prof Umesh Rai also engaged with the staff and students at Reasi Campus, instructing the Director to identify contemporary certificate and skill development courses, especially catering to the needs of the students of district Reasi. He further urged the establishment of Smart classrooms to facilitate interaction between Reasi Campus students and senior faculty from the Main Campus of JU and other prestigious institutes nationwide.
During discussions with Prof Meena Sharma (Dean Planning and Development, JU) and Prof Pandey, Prof Rai proposed the introduction of PG programs in Political Science and Tourism, taking into consideration the topography and tourism potential of the area. He also advocated for exploring courses on lithium exploration, extraction, and its applications.
DC Reasi also pledged support for short-term Skill Development programs at Reasi Campus, reinforcing the commitment to fostering a well-rounded educational environment. He further urged the University to organize training programmes for capacity building in collaboration with District Administration.
Among others who accompanied the VC include Dr Neeraj Sharma (Special Secretary to VC), Rahat Gupta (Xen UWD), Irfan Goni (Campuses Development Officer), Akash Bhola and Jevan Singh (AEE’s of UWD). Other officers of the University and District Administration were also present on the occasion.
