JAMMU, Dec 26: Shri Vishwakarma Skill University Vice Chancellor Raj Nehru, a son of the soil, received Atal Bihari Vajpayee Good Governance Award by Haryana Government at a function at Chandigarh.
The award has been conferred to Shri Vishwakarma Skill University for its innovative “Work Integrated Dual Education Model” that has significantly impacted employability in the State of Haryana.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar presented this award to Vice Chancellor Raj Nehru on the occasion of Good Governance Day Stated event celebrations held on 25th December at Chandigarh. The Chief Minister appreciated the working style of the Vice Chancellor Raj Nehru and his vision for Shri Vishwakarma Skill University.
The SVSU Work Integrated Dual Education model has been adjudged as a transformative idea that bridges the gap between Educatee, Educator and Employer, by combining work and class room. This integration makes the program an ideal proposition for students as they earn and learn and for employers they get industry ready resources.
Raj Nehru dedicated the award to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal, who had visualised to establish the first Skill University in the country. Nehru said that being the founder Vice-Chancellor of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, he feels extremely proud that in such a short span of time, the University has made significant progress that has led the Government to recognise their efforts and rewards them with the Good Governance Award.
This new model has gone beyond the boundaries and partnered with industries to include the pre defined job roles and associated work into the curriculum. This change has enabled the students to earn while learn. Every student is paid a decent stipend ranging from Rs 8000 to 25000 per month by different industries.
