JAMMU, Nov 11: Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, called on Governor N.N. Vohra, Chancellor of the University, at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Prof. Jain briefed the Governor about the current status of important academic, administrative and infrastructural development issues and the to-date profile of post-graduate and doctoral admissions in the different disciplines.
The Governor stressed the need for adequate investments being timely made for enlarging the existing teaching, library and research facilities, alongside due attention to promotion of indoor and outdoor sports and extra-mural activities. He urged the VC to provide the students maximum possible exposure through participation in competitive and other activities which would enhance their capacities and confidence.
The VC has prepared a 5 year (2017-22) Perspective Plan of the University. Chancellor asked the VC to circulate it to members of the Executive Council for their views and comments before the proposed approach is finally discussed.
The Governor re-iterated his concern about the high importance of strict discipline being maintained in the Campus.
