JAMMU, Nov 27: A delegation of Viklang Chhatra Trust (VCT) led by its Organiser, Satya Pal Saraf here today met Governor’s Advisor, B.B Vyas and demanded facility of cataract surgery at Sub-Districts Hospitals (SDHs) of Jammu region.
Saraf demanded appointment of qualified eye surgeons and separate operation theatres at SDHs as per the instruction of the Supreme Court to extend the facility of eye operation to millions of people living in far flung and rural areas of Jammu, Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Samba, Udhampur and Ramban.
He also expressed dismay over the fact that even after 71 years of independence most of the rural and sub-urban areas of Jammu division sans this facility.
He informed the Advisor that some Block Medical Officers are allegedly in the habit of misappropriation of central grants meant for NGOs engaged in cataract surgery and even providing every facility to the cataract patients including medicines etc.
The Advisor gave a patient hearing and assured necessary action.
