JAMMU, Dec 18: Viklang Chhatra Trust (VCT) has appealed to the Prime Minister to introduce a useful provision in the relevant rules that there must be suitable nomination of representative of Divyangs in each house of Parliament and State Legislative Assemblies and Council so that these people are able to raise issues related to their day-to-day problems.
In a handout Trust stated that there is absolutely no representation of Divyangs in either house of Indian Parliament and State Legislatures despite the fact that there is about four crore population of Divyangs across the country hailing from various communities.
The Trust claimed that apart from this not even a single State of the country has ever contemplated of bringing about a beneficial legislation with a provision reserving genuine percentage of the Divyangs for their nomination as Member of Indian Parliament.
The Trust quoted Constitution of India to claim that when all persons are equal why Divyangs have been ignored in giving representation in any house of Parliament of the country.
