RAJOURI, June 13: A VDC member committed suicide by shooting self with his own rifle at village Gondha Khwas in Budhal area last night.
The deceased has been identified as Bansi Lal (45), son of Sadhu Ram, resident of Gondha village in Khwas area. The other members of the family woke up at around 3 am after hearing sound of gun fire. They saw Bansi Lal lying in pool of blood. He was a drunk and used to sleep alone in his room.
The family members informed police about the matter. The dead body was shifted to hospital for postmortem and later hand over to the family. The 12 bore gun of the deceased was also seized. A case under Section 174 CrPC has been registered in this connection.
