SRINAGAR, Nov 8: The Vice Chancellor of the Central Sanskrit University in New Delhi, Shrinivasa Varakhedi, said today that the Vedas hold timeless wisdom, transcending the boundaries of antiquity and remaining relevant in contemporary times.
He made these remarks during the ongoing 3-day National Seminar with the theme “Relevance of the Vedas in the Modern Context” at the Department of Sanskrit, University of Kashmir. The event is being held in collaboration with Maharshi Sandipani Rastriya Vedvidya Pratishthan Ujjain, an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
While addressing the participants on the second day, Varakhedi, an internationally acclaimed scholar, said that the Vedas offer profound insights that resonate with the complexities of our interconnected existence in the modern world. He further explained that the Vedas, far from being relics of an ancient era, serve as guiding principles that, when interpreted through a nuanced lens, contribute to the intellectual and moral foundations necessary for navigating the challenges of the 21st century. “The Vedas are enduring sources of enlightenment that inspire a harmonious and purposeful existence in our globalised and technologically driven society,” he said.
Following the VC’s address, several scholars from around the country presented papers highlighting the significance of the Vedas.
The event was coordinated by KC Sharma, who is also the convenor of the program, and he expressed gratitude to the guests and participants for contributing to the success of the seminar.
