JAMMU, Apr 18: Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri today urged upon all stake holders including revenue and forest authorities to work in tandem with Border Roads Organization (BRO) for removing the bottlenecks impeding the pace of developmental works in the State.
The Minister was addressing a high level meeting to review the status of various road projects under BRO in the State.
The Commissioner Secretary PWD, Rohit Kansal, Secretary Technical Bimal Tickoo, Additional Commissioner Kashmir Nissar H Wani, Director Planning R&B Tariq Ahmad Chief Engineer Projects Beacon, Brgdr A.K. Dass, Chief Engineer Project SAMPARK, Brdgr Battacharya and Chief Engineers of R&B and PMGSY besides concerned officers were present in the meeting.
Mr Veeri asked Chief Engineer Beacon and Sampark to gear up their men and machinery to expedite the progress of ongoing developmental works and achieve targets within the stipulated time frame.
Terming better roads pre requisite for prosperity of the State, Mr Veeri stressed on prioritising the works on some vital roads including Rajouri-Thannamandi -Surankote and asked for better upkeep of roads till widening for four lanning is completed.
He also directed for maintenance of road from Sonwar to Pantha Chowk in Srinagar as the people especially from South Kashmir are facing tremendous hardships because of this patch of the road. He also asked for completion of four lanning of Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri road and Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road before the commencement of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
While reviewing the ongoing work of snow clearance on Zojila and Razdhan passes that connects Leh and Gurez with the valley, the Minister impressed upon the Chief Engineer Beacon to put extra efforts so that the roads are open at the earliest.
Responding to the issues raised by Chief Engineers regarding Forest Clearance, Land Acquisition and Court Cases, the Minister asked the concerned Deputy Commissioners and concerned authorities to work in synergy to resolve these pending issues. He further asked the concerned executing agencies to nominate nodal officers to keep liaison with the concerned officers to ensure speedy disposal of the cases.
Earlier, Chief Engineers of Project Sampark and Beacon gave detailed overview regarding the ongoing projects being carried out by the organizations.
