Veeri for transforming Custodian Deptt from asset keeper to estate developer

JAMMU: Minister for Revenue, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Abdul Rehman Veeri today asked the Custodian Department to grow from custodian of assets to developer of estates and a generator of revenue.

Mr Veeri was speaking to the officers during a visit to newly constructed Banquet Hall of the department at Udheywala Jammu.

Commissioner Secretary Revenue Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Custodian Kashmir Bashir Ahmed Mir, Custodian Jammu Mushtaq Hussain Malik, Custodian Central J&K Jeelani Rafiquee and other officers of the department were also present.

The Minister asked the officers to explore the possibility of creating state of art complexes on custodian land in the State. He also stressed on envisaging projects to promote eco-tourism as such facilities would prove beneficial to generate huge income for the Department.

The Minister had a detailed inspection of the modern multi-facility Banquet hall built over 32,500 sq meters and constructed on custodian land at a cost of Rs 12.25 crore.

The mega facility suitable for marriage parties, birthday functions, and official meetings houses state of art facilities.

The fully air conditioned facility includes indoor stage, outdoor stage, mini hall, Havan Kund, meeting hall, restaurant, 10 bedrooms.

The officials informed the Minister that Banquet hall is just 4 kms from the Jewel and has 24- hour water and power supply.

“The lawn spread on 5 kanals of land is the major attractions of the facility as this is the most spacious lawn in the Jammu city and is best suited for even hi-end marriages. So far around 30 marriage ceremonies were performed at the facility. We cater to all types of weddings, small or big weddings,” officials informed the Minister.

The Banquet hall also has a parking facility for 200 vehicles.
