Veeri reviews arrangements for Haj pilgrimage

SRINAGAR, May 29: Minister for Haj and Auqaf, Abdul Rehman Veeri today  chaired a high-level meeting to review the arrangements put in place by the State Haj Committee and various State and Central Government Departments for the Haj pilgrims from the State.
The Minister was informed that flights from Srinagar to Madina Munawara will operate from August 16 .The flights will operate directly from Srinagar to Madina Munawara. A total number of 6600 pilgrims are proceeding for Haj this year from the State.
He was also informed that Air India is putting in service planes of greater capacity this year. He directed timely arrangements of boarding and lodging and vaccination of pilgrims.
Mr. Veeri directed the officials to ensure that the pilgrims do not face any inconvenience during their stay and travel. He stressed for close coordination between all agencies responsible for the conduct of Haj for providing best services to the pilgrims.
The meeting was further told that first phase of training of the selected pilgrims has been conducted throughout the State except Leh and Kargil, where it had to be postponed on the advice of district administration and now a team of trainers is being deployed shortly for the purpose. The 2nd phase of training to the pilgrims would be given after the holy month of Ramadan.
The meeting also reviewed flood restoration works of the Haj House and the Minister was apprised by the concerned about the status of each work of the complex.
The Minister directed the concerned authorities to ensure the completion of the flood restoration works with focussed attention on completion of renovation and landscaping, drainage, sewerage, jacketing of boundary walls, street path lights of the Haj Complex well in time.
Mr Veeri also directed the concerned authorities for installation of lift system in residential block on priority. In this regard he instructed them to submit a proposal to the Government at the earliest for sanction of funds.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon, Executive Officer State Haj Committee, Fayaz Ahmad Lone, Chief Engineers R&B, PHE, ERA, UEED, MD JKPCC, besides senior officers of Health, Floriculture, Airport Authority, Municipal Cooperation and other concerned departments attended the meeting.
