SRINAGAR, Dec 5: Minister for R&B and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri today directed the officials to expedite work on developmental projects in Kashmir to compensate for the loss of working time during the summers.
The Minister gave these directions while taking stock of various development projects in Srinagar during extensive tour of different parts of the city today.
While reviewing the pace of work on new Rajbagh bridge, the Minister was informed that the work is going on at full pace and the bridge is expected to be completed by March 2017. He also visited the new SPS Library at Lal Chowk which was remodeled in consultation with national and international consultants and will be completed by June 2017.
The Minister was informed that the library once commissioned will be completely online with internet café, reading room, children’s reading area and other academic facilities. The six storey structure being built at a cost of Rs 30 crore will also have two elevators and facilities for physically challenged persons.
The Minister urged the officials to work over-time to complete all the projects within the stipulated targets. He said every effort would be made to compensate the time lost during the summer because of disturbances by expediting the works.
Later, Veeri visited Women’s College MA Road and inspected the ongoing work on non-medical block coming up at a cost of Rs 3.39 crore. It comprises classrooms, labs, staff room, washrooms and other facilities. He was informed that the block is almost complete and ready to be handed over to the college.
