Veethika performs at festival of Young Musicians, Dancers

JAMMU, Oct 20: In continuation of series of concerts, “Festival of Young Musicians and Dancers” was organized by Department of Art, Culture and Languages, Government of NCT of Delhi with Sahitya Kala Parishad held at Central Park,Rajiv Chowk, New Delhi. About 24 eminent young musicians and dancers of the country performed which continued for six days.
In this festival a young Santoor artist Veethika Tikoo from Jammu & Kashmir State was invited to perform by the Government of NCT of Delhi as a upcoming artist dedicated to carry forward the timeless traditions of classical music instrument Santoor.
So far, Veethika has performed/participated in various prestigious festivals in various states of India and abroad. Few of them are Harivallabh , Jallandhar, Inter faculty youth festival at Banaras Hindu University, performed at Indian Habitat Centre, New Delhi, SPIC MACAY & Art of Living.
Besides, she also holds the distinction of being the youngest and the only first female Santoor artist from Jammu & Kashmir State. In recognition of her outstanding contribution and achievements in the field of Santoor music, Veethika has been bestowed with prestigious fellowship/scholarship awards from Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India and Sahitya Kala Parishad. Presently she is Ph.D scholar of Hindustani Music at Delhi.
In last leg of the festival started with a concert of Veethika Tikoo. She presented a soothing recital with a melodious Raga Puriya Kalyan. She commenced her recital with Aalap and compositions in Vilambit, Drutt and Ati Dutt teenteal and concluded the recital with Jalla. Veethika was accompanied on tabla by Sachin Sharma and Nitu Uppal on Tanpura.
