JAMMU, Apr 23: Vegetable and fruit sellers have alleged non-cooperation by police at various places especially in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch saying the trucks carrying essential commodities are being subjected to harassment especially on their return when they are empty.
Number of vegetable and fruit sellers rang up the Excelsior office saying the trucks carrying vegetables and fruits, which have been declared as essential commodities by the Government, were being allowed to proceed to Rajouri, Poonch and other areas from Jammu while carrying the goods.
However, on return when the trucks come empty after unloading vegetables and fruits, the truckers are subjected to harassment and detained for several hours.
Sometimes even the trucks loaded with vegetables are detained for hours and the goods inside are rotten.
They appealed to the police authorities to ensure that the trucks with essential commodities to and fro are not stopped unnecessarily except for security checking.
