RAJOURI, Dec 1: A Forest Department team from Nowshera Forest Division seized a vehicle loaded with Khairwood from Brevi area of Kalakote Sub Division last night.
Sources said that after the specific inputs regarding illegal smuggling of forest produce, Divisional Forest Officer, Nowshera Neelima Shah constituted a special team under the Rakesh Verma, Range Officer Sunderbani and Ved Parkash Block Forest Officer Dharamsal. The team during naka at Brevi intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No. JK02BN/3313 loaded with Khair wood and seized it.
The smugglers had camouflaged the Khairwood with plastic scrape in order to dodge the forest officials. The alert forest staff after physical search of the vehicle recovered about 30 quintals of Khair wood hidden under plastic scrap.
Range Officer said that Forest Offence Report (FOR) has been registered and confiscation proceeding against the vehicle also initiated, under relevant sections of Forest Act.
