Vehicle lifting gang busted, 3 arrested

RAMBAN, Feb 27: Banihal police busted vehicle lifting gang with the arrest of three persons and recovery of five stolen vehicles.
As per police spokesman, on specific information, a team from Banihal Police Station laid a naka near T-Chowk and intercepted a Tavera car.
During scrutinizing of documents, it came to fore that the vehicle was stolen from Chamalwas area of Banihal and a case under FIR Number 129/18 under Section 379 RPC stands registered in this regard with Police Station Banihal, spokesman said, adding that the driver of the vehicle identified as Showkit Ahmed, son of Abdul Ahad Bhat of Kangan District Ganderbal.
During preliminary questioning, the arrested person also disclosed the names of his two other associates and acting accordingly, police arrested them also, he said, adding that two more arrested accused were identified as Zaheer Abass, son of Lal Din of District Poonch and Mohammad Ashraf, son of Abdul Aziz of District Rajouri.
Spokesman added that four more stolen vehicles were recovered on the disclosure of Zaheer Abass and Mohammad Ashraf, adding that the accused lifted the vehicles from the jurisdictions of various police stations falling in different districts.
Further questioning of the accused is going on.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Aejaz Ahmed Wani busted the gang and arrested the accused under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajad Sarwar, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
