UDHAMPUR, Feb 5: Chenani police arrested two persons including vehicle owner and recovered large quantity of poppy straw from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Chenani Police Station laid a naka and intercepted a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK03D-3319.
During checking, police recovered 31.5 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested two persons.
The arrested persons have been identified as Javed Ahmed Wani (owner), son of Munwar Wani and Mohammad Asif Wani (driver), son of Abdul Rehman Wani, both residents of district Anantnag.
A case under FIR Number 17/18 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chenani and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Chenani Inspector Paramjeet Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Chenani Chanderjeet Singh, Additional SP Udhampur Feisal Qureshi and SSP Udhampur Rayees Mohammad Bhat.
