Vehicles lifting gang busted; four arrested with 12 stolen two-wheelers

JAMMU, Jan 27: Narwal and Bhatindi Police jointly busted a vehicles lifting gang with the arrest of four thieves along with 12 stolen two-wheelers.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Chandan Kohli, on July 16 last year, a complaint was lodged by a man namely Yasir Ahmed, son of Mohammad Sharief of Ari, Mendar District Poonch, at present Narwal with Police Post Narwal regarding theft of his motorcycle bearing registration number JK12A-6934.
“Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 256/2021 under Section 379 IPC was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started”, SSP said, adding that to work out the case, a team from Police Post Narwal led by SI Achal Rana and assisted by Incharge Police Post Bhatindi PSI Mohammad Ilyas was constituted under the supervision of SHO Bahu Fort Inspector Nayat Ali, SDPO East Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafari and SP South Deepak Digra.
The team with the help of CCTV cameras footages and technical data, finally arrested the thief, who was identified as Tofal Hussain, son of Mohammad Sharief of Ganjote, Mahore District Reasi.
“Tofal Hussain confessed his involvement in the case and on his disclosure, his three associates identified as Momin Abass, son of Mohammad Rafiq Mala of Chinore District Jammu, Shakeel Ahmed, son of Ali Mohammad of Naki Dool, District Kishtwar, at present Janipur District Jammu and Jamat Ali, son of Rasheed Ali of Lower Majeen, District Jammu were also arrested”, SSP Chandan Kohli said, adding that on the disclosure of arrested persons, twelve stolen two-wheelers were recovered.
Further questioning of the arrested persons is going on to ascertain their involvement in other theft cases, SSP Jammu asserted.
