Verma reviews Muharram arrangements

JAMMU, Nov 2: District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma today discussed arrangements made by the civil administration and Anjuman-e-Imamia for ensuing Muharram in a meeting held here today.
The meeting was attended by Tehsildar Jammu, Shesh Paul Salgotra, Deputy Director Fire Services, Chief Medical Officer, District Health Officer, Executive Engineers of PHE and PDD, SDPO City, DySP, Traffic and Security, Secretary Anjuman-e-Imamia, Prof Shujaut Ali Khan, Vice President Anjuman-e-Imamia, Sayed Abul Kasim Rizvi, Sayed Afaq Kazmi, Rashid Ahmed and representatives from Anjuman Haidery and prominent citizens.
Detailed discussions were held regarding various arrangements which mainly include un-interrupted power and water supply, medicare, sanitation, provision of adequate LPG and other essential commodities during the Muharram days.
It was told in the meeting that the Muharram will commence from November 14, and accordingly two main processions will be taken out on November 21 i.e 7th Moharram and on November 24 i.e 10th Moharram respectively. The first procession will start from New Plot and will pass through Ustad Mohalla, Panjthirthi, Jain Bazaar, Dalpatian Mohalla and will culminate at Imambaragah Sofi Shah Peer Mitha.
The main procession of Moharram will start from Peer Mitha on November 24 at 2.30 P.M and after passing through Lakhdata Bazaar, Rajinder Bazaar, Shahidi Chowk, Wazarat Road will reach the final destination at Karbala Complex at 7.30 P.M. Apart from this a daily Majalis will be held at 8 p.m at Imambargah Sofi Shah.
The DDC gave necessary instructions to PDD and PHE Departments to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply with additional mobile water tankers which will move along with processions and during the Muharram.
The municipal authorities were asked to ensure cleanliness by deployment of additional safai karamcharies in the city, installation of high mast lights enroute processions besides making arrangement of one mobile toilet unit.
Similarly, the police was directed to ensure proper security arrangements on all the days at all the vital points in the Jammu city. The Traffic Department was asked to ensure better arrangements to avoid traffic congestions during the processions.
The participants assured that all the required arrangements would be made well in time for the convenience of the devotees during the Muharram.
