Veteran NCP leader Thakur Randhir Singh passes away

JAMMU, Jan 11: Former minister and NCP president for J&K UT, Thakur Randhir Singh passed away at his Channi Himmat residence last evening.
He was 88 and is survived by wife, three daughters besides grand children.
Veteran Congress leader was residing at Wazarat Road, Jammu in Govt accommodation for the last over 50 years. He had recently shifted to a flat at Channi Himmat, where he breathed his last on Sunday. Since one of his daughters, was in Dubai, the cremation will take place on Tuesday at Channi Himmat Cremation Ground at 12 noon.
NCP chief Sharad Pawar and other state unit leaders of the party today paid tributes of former minister and party president in J&K UT, Thakur Randhir Singh.
A party spokesman said that an emergency meeting was held at NCP headquarters Jammu to pay tributes to Thakur Randhir Singh.
The NCP chief and former Defence Minister Sharad Pawar expressed his grief and sorrow on the demise of Randhir Singh and termed him a great visionary , a Kissan leader and a champion of mass employment and international expert. Pawar expressed that as a state president NCP, Randhir Singh played a key role in forging party’s partiçipation in the ruling UPA.
Dheeraj Sharma National president Youth NCP, joint secretary and Spokesperson Youth wing of NCP Rishi Kilam, senior members T K Kaul, Kamal Gupta, R S Billawaria and others also expressed deep shock on the demise of Thakur Randhir Singh and termed him a great social reformer.
