JAMMU, Mar 10: ‘Vet Fest-2K23, a three days annual college fest of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-Jammu, R S Pura, began here today.
It was inaugurated by Dr Arun Kumar Manhas, Managing Director, JK Agro Industries Development Corporation, in presence of Dr Ramnish Gupta, SP HQ Jammu; Dean, FV Sc & A H; Registrar, SKUAST-Jammu and other esteemed statutory officers of the University.
Dr Manhas and Dr Gupta unveiled the Mascot ‘Dr Kenzo’ of Vet Fest 2K23 (LITRUMPUS 2023), specially designed VetFest 2K23 T-shirt and declared the VetFest 2K23 open by lighting the ‘Sports Torch’. They also inspected the fine arts and other events.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Manhas stressed upon the role of such events in rejuvenating the mind and spirits of students and faculty. He said that SKUAST-Jammu has always fostered creativity, talent and innovation, which are further encouraged by organization of such events.
Dr Ramnish Gupta emphasized that such events are not only showcase of amazing talent of the students but are also affirmation of our commitment towards preserving rich cultural heritage.
Patron of the Organizing Committee and Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Prof M S Bhadwal informed that VetFest 2K23 is comprised of Literary events (Debate, Story Writing, Mad – Ad, Ship Wreck, Quiz and Youth Parliament), cultural events: various types of competitions of Dance (Solo, Duet and Group), Singing (Solo, Duet and Group), Theatre (Skit, Mime and Monoact), Photography, Flower Decoration, besides various Sports Events (indoor and outdoor games viz Badminton, Chess, Table Tennis, Carom, Cricket, Basket Ball, Volley Ball, Tug of War, 50 & 100 meter Races). He added that main attraction of this Vet Fest is Cat Show, first of its kind in UT of J&K, which is scheduled on 12th March, 2023.
Also present on the occasion were Dr S K Gupta, Registrar, SKUAST-Jammu; Dr B C Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture; Dr S E H Rizvi, Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences; Dr J S Soodan, Dean, faculty of Dairy Technology; Dr Jyoti Kachroo, Director (Planning & Monitoring); Dr Rajesh Katoch, Dean Students Welfare; Veterinary faculty and non-teaching staff among others. UG and PG Veterinary students of FVSc & AH will compete in various sports, cultural, literary and fine arts events from 10th to 12th March , 2023 as a part of the Fest.
