JAMMU, May 7: The Vishav Hindu Parishad (VHP) today accused several Government officials and doctors of having hand in glove with cattle smugglers in Jammu-Kashmir.
“It has come to our knowledge that some officials in the office of district and additional District Magistrate Jammu and doctors of Animal Husbandry Department are in league with some professional and notorious cattle smugglers who are engaged in the illegal trade of cattle smuggling”, a statement issued by VHP’s state unit said.
“Repeated smuggling of bovine animals from Jammu region to Kashmir valley for slaughtering which besides being violation of the existing laws on slaughtering of such animals, was also severely hurting religious sentiments of the Hindu community”, it said.
Condemning the “smuggling of bovine animals”, VHP appealed the authorities not to issue any permission for transportation of bovine animals from Jammu to the Valley, the statement added.
