VHP wants India as Hindu state : Togadia

JAIPUR, July 13:
Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP) today strongly stressed upon its demand for a pro-Hindu nation that would safeguard the interests and aspirations of the majority  community.
Addressing a news conference here, VHP Working President Praveen Togadia demanded construction of a huge Ram Mandir at the Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya under a special Act of Parliament, abolition of Article 370 and adoption the Uniform Civil Code.
Dr Togadia also urged all the political parties to take a stand on Hindu demands, accept them publicly, include  them in their manifesto and then implement them on attaining  power in government.
Elaborating his views on Hindu state, the BJP leader said  the time had come now to deliberate and define the concept of a Hindu state.
“Whether you call it a theocratic state or not, let it be spelt out in deliberations. But what I do mean by a Hindu  state is that it should take care of every need of Hindu citizens, provide protection to them, uphold their interests of education, employment, trade and business at par with the brethren from the minority Muslims,” Dr Togadia said.
“In a Hindu state, I also aspire to draw parity on all grounds for Hindu children with Muslims students in grant of freeship, grant-cum-assistance for trade/business and other benefits,” he said.
When 95 lakh Muslim children could be granted freeship, Muslims could be allocated funds to the tune of Rs 2 lakh  crore for trade business assistance, why could Hindu children and youth not be given the same facilities, he wondered.
So it was high time to work on the concept and evolution of such Hindu state, and if needed, enactment of new laws  or even the amendment in Constitution may also be brought, he said.
“We are ready to support any political party that would work on our views and demands. And for this purpose, the VHP has  decided to launch campaign by month end to meet every member of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha from all parties, and to put before them the demands,” he said.
