RAJOURI, Sept 9: Senior BJP leader and MLC, Vibodh Gupta while addressing an impressive party workers meeting at Darhal today called NC Farooq Abdullah’s remarks on boycott of local bodies elections as unwarranted and despotic.
“Municipality and Panchayat elections represent democracy at grassroot level, he said. Statements of Farooq Abdullah and his declaration to boycott Municipality and Panchayat elections undermine spirit of democracy, Gupt added.
He said it also undermines people of Jammu & Kashmir, the aspiration of the youth and hence the statement of Dr Abdullah is unwarranted,
MLC was overwhelmed to see an enthusiastic participation of Muslim community in party meeting at Darhal who rose to give befitting reply to PDP and NC and accused them of trying to polarize vote in the name of religion and separatism.
He further said, “ people of J&K especially the youth is prepared to boycott opportunist National Conference.” And they ask why NC is only boycotting Municipality and Panchyat elections as they should also resign as Member Parliament if NC really means its words”, he added.
He said, “National Conference should rise above the politics of religion, violence and hatred and work for the welfare of humanity.”
MLC spoke on the problems being faced by people of Darhal and promised early redressal to them. He said ,”Rajouri to Darhal road is in poor condition”. MLC assured construction of better road as soon as possible. He also mentioned the need to set up a Degree College in the area and further spoke on the scope of developing Darhal as a major tourist spot.
He said, “ road to beautiful seven lakes passes through Darhal and the only need is to project these lakes in State as well as national level and construction of ace road here.”
He said that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is promoting ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas’ through a number of welfare schemes that include Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ujjwala, Saubhagya and others. He appealed everyone to vote for BJP to make “India as superpower” a reality.
In his address district vice president BJP Kamal Bakshi also criticised NC for its undemocratic attitude.
Mandal Pardhan Mohd. Sharief also spoke on the occasion and complimented MLC Vibodh for always highlighting the issues of Darhal in front of higher authorities.
