NEW DELHI, Sept 4: A national level meet of the Pakistan occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK) Displaced Persons Forum was held here.
During this one day convention of the Forum, attended by a large number of leaders and scholars of the community from across the country, the participants called upon the Government to ensure justice to all those 5300 families of the PoJK, who had migrated to India and settled in various parts of the country.
On this occasion, BJP senior leader and MLC Vibodh Gupta was the chief guest. He strongly favoured various demands of the families of all those 5300 PoJK displaced persons settled in various parts of the country. He said that considering the condition of these families and the sacrifices made by them for the sake of nation, it is very important that equal treatment must be given to these refugees.
He informed that as per the 1962 census, these families were included in the list of refugees prepared by the Government and were also given relief. “Now, these people are not given any other relief due to the reason that these people are not settled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir and have moved and settled in various other parts of the country,” he added and termed this situation very unfortunate. “Besides giving the State subject to these people, they also deserve all the compensation being given to the other refugees in Jammu & Kashmir,” he stressed and called-upon the Government to include all these 5300 families of displaced persons living outside J&K under the compensation package.
The convention was also addressed by Retd Justice V B Gupta, who laid stress on granting permanent residence certificate to all the members of families of PoJK refugees, settled outside J&K. “This will end the long injustice being done to these persons who had massive properties in PoJK,” he added.
The concluding session of this one-day convention of the Forum was addressed by Retd. Justice Anil Dev Singh, who called-upon the Government to immediately implement the 183rd Parliamentary Committee Report.
Prominent among others, who were present on the occasion, included Mahinder Mehta, Sudesh Rattan, Ashutosh and Vinay Kant.
