Vibodh warns corrupt officials of RDD

RAJOURI, June 22: Member Legislative Council (MLC) Advocate Vibodh Gupta has said that there are large scale complaints of corruption in the Rural Development Department (RDD) block Rajouri and residents are approaching him regularly in this regard.
In a statement issued here, today Gupta said various deputations of villages viz Dhanore, Sawani, Kotdhara and Dassal area of Rajouri approached him with the complaints about the mal functioning of RDD, block Rajouri. These residents’ levelled serious allegations that Block Development Officer of block Rajouri has adopted pick and choose policy in disbursement of funds under MGNREGA. They also brought into his notice that one Panchayat is being given Rs 30 lakh grants while another Panchayat gets only Rs seven lakh. The people expressed their resentment over the corrupt practices in the BDO office and demanded immediate action against the officer and other staff members, the statement added.
Gupta informed the deputations that State Government especially Minister for Rural Development will not tolerate any such irregularities in his department as he wanted to make the department a transparent one. He said that he will bring all these complaints into the notice of Minister and will try to hold inquiry into the matter. He said that if these allegations proved, stern action will be initiated against the officers.
The MLC said that State Government has adopted zero tolerance policy on corruption and nobody who will be found involved in such practices will be spared. “We will not allow anybody to loot public and delay their works in offices’’’, he said, adding that delaying works also tantamount to corruption and it will not be tolerated.
Appreciating various measures taken by Rural Development Department in district Rajouri, Gupta said that RDD Minister Abdul Haq Khan has brought tremendous changes in this department and for the first time the works are seen on ground. He said that earlier works were seen only on papers but with the efforts of State and Centre Government, a transparent mechanism has been adopted and people are getting relief from these changes. He however warned officers and officials who defame the department with their illegal activities will not be tolerated.
