UDHAMPUR, Feb 2: Juhi Manhas Pathania, Vice Chairperson DDC Udhampur today underscored the need for focusing on public utility and practically feasible works which serve the purpose of ‘greatest good of greatest number’.
While addressing a meeting under Phase- II of Plan formulation calendar chalked out by District Administration of Udhampur, Block Khoon at Panchayat Bhawan Dhemma, she said to plan more and spend more’ and ultimately make visible the difference on ground with qualitative work and within specified limits is the biggest mantra which needs to be followed religiously by PRIs/nodal officers of line departments.
She further informed the PRIs/people that Jal Jeevan Mission is going to start on ground with the tendering process almost complete and allotments being made to the eligible contractors. She called upon line departments as well as PRIs to ensure that good quality work is executed on ground so that the Prime Minister’s resolve of ‘Har Ghar Ko Nal’ is actualized on ground. She was apprehensive of the unnecessary hiccups being created by local treasuries in dispersing amounts in bank accounts of beneficiaries of various centrally sponsored schemes.
Among the issues raised by local PRIs included Khoon to Nardi road, Dhar road to Sortha and Kandi – Dager roads.
The people also sought electrification and augmentation in the low voltage pockets of Khoon block. They also canvassed for checking quality control on Dhemma to Thial road, Sanote to Ghar Sambhna Banj road, Hamdana to Panjian road and Panjian to Nokain road.
The PRIs demanded immediately making up of deficiencies by contractor agencies which have incurred in the defect liability periods. The PRIs further demanded registration of a FIR against the officers/contractor agencies at Panjian Nokain, PMGSY road, who have suspended the drinking water supply lines of the people of area.
The PRIs also called for making good the deficiencies/irregularities having incurred while putting in place mechanical part of water supply scheme in SK Ber.
Pathania called upon the concerned officers to be more responsive and sensitive to the public needs and exigencies. She further asked them to work with great zeal and enthusiasm as the people of the area have high hopes on PRIs/local officers.
Romesh Gupta, Mohan Lal, Raman Khajuria, Surinder Singh, Tirath Ram, Nimarta Bali, Ashok Singh (all sarpanches) addressed the meeting and put forth their views in presence of the officers from RDD, PHE, PDD, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Sports, Education, etc Departments.
