POONCH, May 20: A security guard deployed at District Hospital Poonch was terminated from the services today after a video showing him taking COVID sample went viral on social media.
In the viral video, the security guard namely Mehboob Hussain of Loran (Poonch) was taking swab sample of a suspected COVID-19 patient without following SOPs, near main gate of Indoor Complex, District Hospital Poonch. The video drew a lot of criticism of the health system and put question mark over Hospital management.
As per the reports, the video is of May 18. After the video went viral on all social media platforms, the Security Guard was terminated today from services and he was directed to leave Hospital complex immediately.
When contacted, Medical Superintendent, DH Poonch, Dr Mushtaq Jafri said that nobody from the Hospital had authorized the security guard to take swab samples of suspected COVID-19 patients. He said on preliminary enquiry, it has come to fore that the security guard was not taking sample but just doing prank with the staff on COVID duty. However, he said that such type of prank is not tolerable and thus, he has terminated the security guard from the services.
