JAMMU, July 5: A minute-long video of a Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police cops taking bribe forcefully from a truck driver went viral on social media.
In the viral video, the traffic cops identified as SgCt Chattar Singh and SPO Sanjay Sharma while performing their duty near 4th bridge on Tawi river intercepted a truck.
SPO Sanjay Sharma boarded the vehicle, forcefully took the bribe from the driver and deboarded from the truck, while SgCt Chattar Singh was standing outside the vehicle on the road side.

Later, the traffic cops let the driver go without imposing any fine.
“The activities of the traffic cops seemed to be doubtful in the viral video rather has tarnished the image of the uniformed Traffic Police”, SSP Traffic City Jammu Joginder Singh told the EXCELSIOR, adding that the suspicious activities especially by SPO Sanjay Sharma in presence of SgCt Chattar Singh are gross act of indiscipline, misconduct and dereliction of duties as boarding of SPO in the stopped vehicle are suspicious and with ulterior motive and action against the said SPO shall be taken separately.
However, SgCT Chattar Singh did not stop SPO Sanjay Sharma for boarding in stopped vehicle for ulterior motive and video was viral on social media as such SgCt Chattar Singh has been placed under suspension with immediate effect, SSP said, adding that the cop has been directed to report Traffic Police Line immediately and deposit the uniform articles in stores.
SSP informed that a departmental enquiry has been ordered against the SgCT and entrusted to Additional SP Traffic City Jammu to conduct the same on its merits and submit findings within five days positively.
“We have written to SSP Jammu for disengagement of an SPO Sanjay Sharma for his misconduct”, informed.
