Vietnam PM forecasts 2012 inflation at 8 pct, below govt target

HANOI, Oct 22: Vietnam’s inflation rate may hit 8 percent this year, below the 9 percent initial government target for the whole of 2012, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said on Monday.

The country’s trade deficit is forecast to slide to $1 billion from an initial estimate of $10.88 billion, Dung said in televised remarks to the National Assembly’s opening session. (agencies)
