Vigilance arrests Naib Tehsildar in disproportionate assets case

JAMMU, Mar 9: The Vigila-nce Organization, Jammu has arrested Sher Singh, then Naib Tehsildar Katra, for accumulating huge assets, disproportionate to his known sources of income.
He was arrested in case FIR No.11/2014 P/S VOJ U/S 5(1) (e) r/w section 5 (2) J&K PC Act Svt 2006 registered in P/S VOJ.
Brief facts of the case are that the accused Sher Singh, during his posting as Naib Tehsildar, Katra, accumulated huge moveable and immoveable assets worth lakhs  during the period of his postings as Patwari-Girdawar and Naib Tehsildar. The assets include two houses, one at Reasi and the other at Katra, two shops at Katra, four storeys under construction building at Rehari and several kanals of land at different places. The accused has also invested huge amounts in the banks and has made donations and other expenditures in crores. The assets acquired by the accused Naib Tehsildar are disproportionate to his known sources of income.
During investigation, the accused failed to give proper accountability of the assets moveable and immoveable held in his name and in the name of his family members. He was not revealing the real facts from the source of money from which he has raised such huge assets. In order to ascertain the ground reality for raising such huge assets by the accused, he has been arrested for sustained questioning by the investigating agency, said a spokesman of the Vigilance Organization, adding that investigation of the case was going on.
Meanwhile, Vigilance Orga-nization today produced chargesheet against Sub Inspector Krishan Lal Raina, then posted as I/C PP Lamberi, Nowshera, district Rajouri, who was caught accepting bribe.
The chargesheet in case FIR No. 28/2010 of 2010 at P/S VOJ,  for probing into the allegations of corruption charges regarding demand and acceptance of bribe of Rs  20,000/ by SI Krishan Lal Raina  from complainant namely  Mahesh Singh of  Rajouri, was produced in the  Anti-corruption Court Rajouri.
During the course of investigation, the allegations were proved against the accused SI and sanction for his prosecution was also accorded by the Government on 08-03-2017.
