The inhabitants assembled today at construction site of the deep drain and raised slogans against JMC and UEED. They alleged that the deep drain being taken out from the main street of the Vijay Nagar is around 9 feet wide and 10 feet deep while the street of the locality is very narrow. “Moreover, at the exit point of the drain, there is only 3 and a half feet wide space and on one side the drain there is a culvert on a nallah and on the other side there is a house, so the construction agency should first clear what will they do at the exit point. Whether they will break the culvert or the house,” they questioned.
The protesting inhabitants said that they telephonically contacted all concerned officers of the construction agency including SE, XEn and AEE but nobody visited the site and talked to them. “Earlier, Deputy Mayor Advocate Purnima Sharma had visited the locality and assured us that before start of construction work, we will be taken into confidence but nobody talked to us before taking up the work of the deep drain,” the residents said.
“This is the only street which connects the locality with the main road but as the construction work is going on here, nobody can move out their vehicles. If any medical emergency arises, what the residents will do,” the protesting people said and appealed the JMC Mayor to intervene personally and solve the issue on priority.
