Vijaypur police nabs 2 drug peddlers, illicit liquor seller

SAMBA, Feb 26: In its continuing drive against menace of illicit liquor and its sale, a police team headed by Sub-Inspector Rajeshwar Singh, SHO P/S Vijaypur under the supervision of S. S. Sambyal, Dy. SP, SDPO Vijaypur arrested one person dealing with sale of illicit liquor and recovered 52 frooties (country made liquor) from his possession.
According to Additional SP Samba, Faisal Qureshi, Mahesh Kumar Sharma S/o Rattan Chand R/o Gho Brahmna Ramgarh was arrested by the police team of Vijaypur PS and 52 NIPS (Frooties) were recovered from his possession, when he was transporting them on his Motor Cycle No. JK02AH-5737 for sale on exorbitant rates in Ramgarh area. Accordingly, case FIR No. 21/2015 U/S 48-A Excise Act has been registered with Police Station Vijaypur against him and investigation started.
Mr Qureshi said the same team of Police Station Vijaypur nabbed two persons namely Saudagar Mal S/o Kali Dass and Ajay Kumar S/o Manohar Lal, both residents of Gagore Vijaypur when they were traveling in a car bearing Registration No. JK21-B/1864 towards Ramgarh but on signaling by the Police Party, they tried to fled from the spot. They were chased by the police and during search, 2300 Capsules of Paravan Spasm were recovered from their possession which they were bringing from Punjab to sell among the youth of Ramgarh and Vijaypur area. Accordingly, accused persons were arrested and Case FIR No. 22/2015 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation started.
Additional SP further said that in another incident, Ghagwal Police foiled a major attempt to smuggle bovine animals in District Samba. In view of the tight Naka Checking on the NHW at Ghagwal, now the new modus operandi is being carried out by the bovine smugglers to smuggle the bovine animals by foot from the border road for selling them in Punjab, he added.
He said the Police Party headed by SI Parshotam Kumar, Incharge PP Rajpura under the supervision of Vijay Pal Singh, Dy. SP HQ Samba and Inspector Sanjeev Chib, SHO P/S Ghagwal intercepted the bovine smuggler carrying 17 bovine animals illegally towards Kathua. Accordingly, the bovine smuggler namely Mohd Sadiq S/o Maal Hussain R/o Dessa Chak Kathua was arrested and a case FIR No 17/2015RPC, under section 188 RPC was registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation started.
He said by achieving success in rescuing 17 bovine animals, a strong message for curbing bovine smuggling has been sent by district Police to the bovine smugglers.
