Vikar inaugurates Solar Power Plant at Govt Polytechnic

Minister of State for Power, Vikar Rasool inaugurating Solar Power Plant at Govt Polytechnic, Bikram Chowk on Monday.

JAMMU, Sept 16: In its endeavor to provide a dependable power supply system in several institutions of the state, the Government today installed 100 KW Solar Power Plant at Government Polytechnic, Jammu, Bikram Chowk.
Minister of State for Technical Education, Rural Development & Panchayat, Social Welfare, Information and Power, Vikar Rasool, inaugurated the plant.
The SPP has been installed with an expenditure of Rs. 2.68 crore by Ministry of New & Renewable Energy under Jawahar Lal Nehru National Solar Mission which will augment the power requirement of the institution round the clock.
Rasool said that Government is keen to harness new and renewable energy potential in the state and use it as an instrument to improve socio-economic condition of the people. He said that Government has decided to install solar plants at all important Government institutions to make available round the clock source of energy to these institutions. He said that with the installation of Solar Power Plant, the institutions will get uninterrupted power supply round the clock.
He appreciated the functioning of the polytechnic saying that both the institutions in Jammu and Srinagar are running well and providing quality education to the students. He expressed hope that the college will continue its efforts of shaping the future of students in a right direction.
Mementoes were also present to the Minister and Director School Education on the occasion.
Among others, Director Technical Education J. P. Singh, Joint Director Technical Education M. S. Bhatt, Principal Govt. Polytechnic Bikram Chowk Neetu Maini, Principal ITI Jammu Iqbal Kohli, representatives from Moserbear, Technical staff of DTE besides HoDs and staff members of the college were present on the occasion.
