BANIHAL, June 25: Minister of State for Technical Education, Information and Power, Vikar Rasool Wani today toured rural areas of Banihal and listened to the grievances of people.
During his visit to Soomber Panchayat, the Minister informed that the Government was committed to generate more employment opportunities for youth of rural areas through project implementations like power generation, construction of road and rail links. He said that massive road, rail and hydro power projects being executed have provided employment to thousands of youth, while on their completion these would help to further boost trade and commerce in the state.
Interacting with the locals after listening to their demands, the Minister said that solar lights distributed in twin Panchayats of Soomber have provided great relief to the people including the students who are now able to concentrate on their studies. He assured people that the electrification of these Panchayats will be done very soon.
Regarding the provision of drinking water, he informed that instructions have been passed to the concerned departments and the time was not far when the entire area will have water supply schemes.
The Minister also assured that the compensation to all leftover owners whose land came under Railways will be disbursed soon. He directed the concerned to expedite the process and disburse the compensation as early as possible so that the poor people do not suffer.
Vikar also assured to take up the demand for opening of a Higher Secondary School in the area with the concerned quarters.
