JAMMU, Apr 24: PDP leader and MLC, Vikramaditya Singh today said that Jammu is in desperate need for better medical facilities and therefore the Central Government should look at an AIIMS like medical institute for this region in addition to setting up of an AIIMS in Srinagar.
Vikramaditya also reinforced that he has full confidence and faith in the leadership of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who will take up the issue with the Central Government in expediting a medical institute for Jammu region.
He said that today’s Jammu Bandh, in response to AIIMS being allocated for Kashmir, called by the National Conference, Congress Party and Chambers of Commerce raises a pertinent issue of lack of healthcare services in the Jammu region.
The PDP leader said that attempts in the past to establish medical institutes such as the Super Specialty Hospital were well intentioned but the institute lacks follow up and maintenance as is seen with the shortfall and absence of medical staff, doctors and infrastructure.
