UDHAMPUR, Mar 12: Former MLC and senior Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh addressed a Congress workers’ convention, which was organized here today by the District Congress president Ashwani Khajuria.
In his address, Vikramaditya Singh highlighted the failures of present Union Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He alleged that the Modi Government has destroyed the fragrance of secularism in the country. “There is a big threat to the integration of country and it is unfortunate that present BJP Government at Centre is unable to control the militancy resulting a large number of our security forces have sacrificed their lives for the sake of Nation,” he said.
Vikramaditya Singh stressed that the country is like a flower pot of many religions, several languages and different cultures but during the Modi regime, only fanatic forces were nourished and encouraged. He claimed that only Congress Party has a secular history and its leaders Indira Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi, S Baint Singh and Lalit Maken have sacrificed their lives for the sake of integration and secularism of the country.

Exhorting upon the Congress workers to serve the common man at grass root level at their doorsteps, he asked the party cadre to constitute booth level committees in whole District in a very short period. Recalling that his father Dr Karan Singh had represented Udhampur- Kathua- Doda Parliamentary Constituency more than two decades, Vikramaditya Singh said that his only aim was to strengthen Congress organization in this Parliamentary constituency and server the people.
Vikramaditya Singh appealed the miss guided youth to shun away the path of militancy and join the main stream. “United we can face the nefarious design of BJP and root out fanatic forces in the country,” he said.
District Congress Committee working president Ashwani Khajuria assured Congress victory from this Parliament segment and said that Udhampur District will play a vital role in the victory.
Senior Congress leaders, including Geeta Khajuria, Brij Mohan Sharma, Sanjeev Duby, Sayed Shakil Shah, Vijay Manhas, Girdhari Lal Basnotra, Shashi Manhas, Raj Kumar Kalotra, Sewa Dal District chief Yashpal Sharma, Tarro Devi, Raj Kumar Dutta, Shanker Verma were present in the one- day convention.
