Villager drowns, body recovered

POONCH, July 25: The dead body of a villager who was drowned in Lathoong Nallah in Surankote area last evening was recovered today.
Official sources said that deceased person after returning from work started taking bath in the Nallah in the evening on July 24. He slipped into the deep water drowned. Nobody, knew about the incident and when he did not turn up late evening, the family members with the help of villagers started searching for him. During search his clothes were found nearby nallah.
The villagers brought a JCB machine and police was also intimated. With the help of SDRF team the body was recovered today morning.
Station House Officer Surankote, Insp Rajesh Thapa identified the deceased as Mohd Zaman, son of Mohd Abdullah, resident of Lathoong area in Surankote.
The family members and locals alleged negligence of Mining department and said that illegal mining is being done here and material is being lifted from the river bed due to which the river has turned deep and took the life of this person.
