Villager injured in bear attack

POONCH, Aug 20: A villager was seriously injured after he was attacked by a full grown bear in Saujian area of Mandi in district Poonch today.
Reports said the incident took place in the morning when 45-year-old Muneer Hussain, Kadheer Kohli, resident of Brachhad hamlet near Saujian was at his home. The bear barged into their house. As the villager tried to scare away the wild beast, it suddenly attacked him causing serious injuries on his head and face. He cried for help and neighbours in large number with lathis rushed there. The bear then escaped towards nearby forest.
The injured Muneer was rushed to Mandi hospital and then to Poonch. In view of his serious condition, he was furthered referred to GMC Hospital, Jammu.
This is the second incident of attack by the same bear at the village this week. The wild beast has created a scare in the area restricting movement of the people. Even the children have stopped going to school. Saujian police has asked Wild Life department to take cognizance of the matter and neutralize this bear.
