Villager killed at firing range, another hurt

JAMMU, Mar 2: A villager was killed at firing range in Khour area while a nomad got injured at another range near Chamarki village in tehsil Akhnoor this evening.
A police spokesman said that Army firing was going on at Kalla Range in Khour late this evening. A villager namely Charan Dass, son of Beli Ram, resident of Kalla, who had gone to collect lead metal (Sikka) was hit by a shell and killed on the spot.  The body of the villager was traced at around 6.30 pm by another villager and  he informed the concerned Army unit. The police later reached the spot and shifted the body to Khour hospital. A case was registered in this connection.
Meanwhile, one Mushtaq Bakerwal was injured after he received a bullet injury at Chamarki firing range this evening. He was removed to Akhnoor hospital for treatment. The police has taken cognizance.
